YSRCP supremo Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday opposed the excesses indulged in by the police outside the Assembly premises. The police had snatched placards held by the MLAs and MLCs belonging to the YSRCP. The placards were torn by them, causing a melee.
Jagan confronted the cops, who had clearly acted at the behest of the powers-that-be. "You are here to safeguard democracy, not to undermine it at the behest of those in power. Remember that and conduct yourselves properly," an angry Jagan told the cops. The video is going viral on social media.
In recent days, the YSRCP has been upping the ante against the Chandrababu Naidu dispensation. The rights of the Opposition have been slowly trampled upon by the government. If this continues, the Chief Minister will be at the receiving end of public dissatisfaction. Today's incident shows that Jagan is going to lead the fight for his party from the front.
