The Andhra Pradesh Government has made a significant decision to lift the suspension of IPS officer A.B. Venkateswara Rao, enabling him to receive a posting on the day of his retirement.
The order to lift the suspension was issued by Chief Secretary Jawahar Reddy, marking a pivotal moment in Rao's career. However, it's important to note that Rao's reinstatement and subsequent posting are contingent upon the outcome of the ongoing criminal proceedings against him in an ACB case currently pending before the High Court.
This development comes after a series of legal battles surrounding Rao's suspension. Previously, the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) had overturned Rao's suspension, directing the Andhra Pradesh Government to compensate him for his salary and any pending emoluments. Rao had faced suspension twice over allegations related to irregularities in the procurement of surveillance equipment.
