The Ministry of Home Affairs, Andhra Pradesh has granted permission to prosecute former AP intelligence head AB Venkateswara Rao under Prevention of Corruption Act
ACB alleged that A. B. Venkateswara Rao, IPS without following the Rules/Regulations/guidelines framed for procurement of equipment, clandestinely pushed for the procurement of surveillance equipment i.e. UAV (unmanned vehicle) and Aerostat for an amount of Rs.25.50crores in the guise of modernisation of Police Force and thereby attempted cause loss to the Government exchequer and wrongful gain to M/s RT
Inflatables, Israel through which his son is benefitted.
It is alleged A.B. Venkateswara Rao fraudulently and dishonestly attempted to misappropriate and cause wrongful loss to the State exchequer and attempted to procure equipment contrary to the trust reposed on him. This could be Jagan's last stroke to AB Venkateswara Rao in the context of the coming election in AP.
