At Friday's India Today Conclave, senior journalist Rahul Kanwal asked BJP leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah as to why the TDP was taken back into the NDA fold even though, in the past, Chandrababu Naidu had abused Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a terrorist. Surprisingly, Shah said that he is not aware of CBN calling Modi a terrorist. At the same time, Shah spoke like a leader from the most dominant party in India.
"We didn't ask Chandrababu Naidu to leave the NDA. It was him who decided to part ways with us. Then he went to the people, lost elections and after realizing he is back with us. He is most welcome," Shah said.
Even though the BJP is a weak partner in Andhra Pradesh, Shah didn't speak apologetically. He insulted Naidu by reminding everyone that the TDP was trounced in 2019 after it parted ways with the BJP.
Meanwhile, ground reports say that the NDA alliance in AP is not bearing much fruit. It has to be seen if the YCP will be able to capitalize on the lack of momentum.
