YSR Congress Party has taken the Mangalagiri assembly constituency very seriously and leaving no stone unturned to make sure that TDP candidate Nara Lokesh, who lost from here in 2019 faces a similar fate again this term.
By announcing BC candidate Lavanya as the new in-charge of Mangalagiri, and bringing back defiant Alla Ramakrishna Reddy, Jagan has pleased both the BC and also the Reddy communities in Mangalagiri.
The elaborate plan could be defeat Lokesh through a BC woman which would cast a humiliating end to his political career. Losing from Mangalagiri for the second time in the hands of a woman would very well project Lokesh in poor light not just in general politics but also in the TDP ecosystem.
The idea could be to project Nara Lokesh as an insignificant politician who can't even win as an MLA let alone leading Telugu Desam after Chandrababu Naidu.
But Nara Lokesh, on the other hand, is extremely confident about winning the seat this time around. If at all he loses from here again, his political career is undeniably going to shreds so he knows full well what is at stake here and acting accordingly.
