TDP was once the undisputed political party of entire Andhra Pradesh during the combined state years. After the rise of TRS and the pink party taking up Telangana agitation to its peaks, TDP slowly lost its cadre and leaders. Following Telangana state formation, the party sank completely with most of the remaining MLA’s and leaders joining TRS.
In the newly formed AP, the party seems to be heading in the same direction as far as Rayalaseema is concerned. The party only won 3 seats here in all the four districts during 2019 elections. In spite of course correction, many feel the party is bulldozing its caste-based ideology in the politically sensitive region, only alienating itself further with each day.
The Garjana organized by Rayalaseema groups was a success in Kurnool yesterday and it's high time the party makes a course correction in the region, from where CBN hails or risks complete oblivion.
