Narendra Modi has emerged as a global leader over the past decade, commanding both domestic and international respect. His political prowess has overshadowed opposition parties in India, leaving them sidelined. In fact, if we examine the political landscape of the country over the past nine years, it is evident that it can be divided into two eras: before and after Modi.
The BJP is making an aggressive push, attacking as if the upcoming election is a battle to be won, and this is largely due to Modi's tactical acumen. The opposition's latest strategy is to discredit Modi by tarnishing his image. Rahul Gandhi has even traveled abroad to criticize the Modi government, stating that democracy is in danger in India. Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi and a staunch opponent of Modi, demonstrated the power of his Aam Aadmi Party by contesting the assembly elections in Gujarat, Modi's home state. Now, under the Right to Information Act, Kejriwal is seeking information about Modi's educational qualifications.
However, the Gujarat High Court has ruled that Modi is not required to disclose his educational qualifications. In addition, Kejriwal was fined twenty-five thousand rupees for filing the case. This has become a nationwide debate, with many questioning the need to reveal educational qualifications for political candidates.
While it is true that education is not a prerequisite for contesting elections in India, discrepancies in educational qualifications disclosed in election affidavits can be a major controversy. The opposition is using this as a point of attack against Modi, claiming that he falsely reported his educational background. It is rumored that Modi earned his degree from Patna University and his postgraduate degree from Delhi University, but the opposition is questioning why he has not openly shared his educational qualifications.
Kejriwal argues that the Indian public deserves to know what Modi has studied. This issue has now become a trending topic on social media, with the opposition pressuring Modi to release his educational credentials. This is a psychological game being played by the opposition against Modi, attempting to corner him and increase the pressure. It remains to be seen how BJP will respond.
