A tragic incident in Rockland, near Ottawa, has resulted in the death of an Indian national, confirmed by the Indian Embassy in Canada on Saturday. The victim was fatally stabbed, prompting an immediate investigation by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).
The OPP reported responding to a disturbance near Lalonde Street on Friday afternoon, where they discovered the victim. A suspect has been apprehended in connection with the homicide, though the motive behind the attack remains undisclosed.
The Indian High Commission in Ottawa is actively engaged with the victim's family, offering comprehensive support during this difficult time. "We are deeply saddened by the tragic death of an Indian national in Rockland near Ottawa due to stabbing. Police have stated that a suspect has been taken into custody. We are in close contact through a local community association to provide all possible assistance to the bereaved kin," the embassy stated on X.
While a suspect is in custody, authorities have not yet released details regarding potential charges. The OPP has reassured the public that there is no ongoing threat to their safety.
