"Daaku Maharaaj's Release on My Birthday Feels Like the Perfect Coincidence: Pragya Jaiswal"

Q: How does it feel to collaborate once again with Nandamuri Balakrishna in Daaku Maharaaj?

Pragya Jaiswal: It’s truly a blessing to work with Balakrishna Sir again. He has always been a lucky charm for me. Daaku Maharaaj is an entirely new experience, a unique film and world, created masterfully by Bobby Sir. My character, Kaveri, is distinct and thrilling, and I already feel a positive vibe surrounding this project. The audience has always shown their appreciation for my work on screen, and I’m confident they will enjoy my performance in this film as well.

Q: What is your opinion of director Bobby Kolli?

Pragya Jaiswal: Bobby Sir was the first director I met in the Telugu film industry, even before my debut in Kanche. We've kept in touch over the years but never had the opportunity to collaborate until now. When he approached me for Daaku Maharaaj, I was immediately on board after watching the teaser. What stands out about Bobby Sir is his calm demeanor, even in the most challenging situations. He and his team created a smooth and stress-free environment during the shoot, especially in the extreme conditions of Rajasthan. Despite the tough weather and physical demands, working with him was an absolute delight.

Q: How would you compare Nandamuri Balakrishna’s on-screen and off-screen persona?

Pragya Jaiswal: Surprisingly, there aren’t many differences between Balayya Sir off-screen and on-screen. He is as positive, energetic, and childlike off-screen as he is on-screen. Always enthusiastic, talkative, and full of life, he’s constantly cracking jokes or sharing fascinating stories about his father’s movies. However, on-screen, he undergoes a transformation and becomes larger than life, especially in intense roles like the Akhanda Agghora character. His dedication, energy, and passion for his craft are unmatched.

Q: How has your experience been working with Sithara Entertainments?

Pragya Jaiswal: Sithara Entertainments is one of the most prestigious production houses in Telugu cinema, and I feel fortunate to be associated with them. Naga Vamsi Garu is a driven producer, and his silent support has meant a lot to me. The journey with the passionate team has been smooth and enjoyable, and I look forward to working with them on more projects in the future.

Q: In the trailer, there’s a scene where you’re holding a knife fiercely. Can you shed some light on that?

Pragya Jaiswal: It’s definitely an intriguing moment, and I’d prefer to keep it a surprise for now. In just a couple of days, everyone will understand the context. It’s going to be quite exciting!

Q: Were there any physical challenges during the Daaku Maharaaj shoot?

Pragya Jaiswal: Yes, definitely. Shooting in Rajasthan's extreme heat and dust was physically demanding. I fell sick during the second or third day, but the team’s energy and passion kept me going. Bobby Sir and his crew ensured I could focus on my performance despite the tough conditions. The DOP, Vijay Kannan Sir, paid great attention to detail, bringing Bobby Sir’s vision to life, which motivated me to give my best.

Q: Daaku Maharaaj is releasing on your birthday. How does that feel?

Pragya Jaiswal: I feel truly blessed. It’s an incredible coincidence. Having the film release on my birthday, during Sankranti—a festival with such significance—is like a sign from the universe. It feels like the biggest celebration I could ask for.

Q: What’s your perspective on Sankranti releases?

Pragya Jaiswal: Sankranti is a special time in the Telugu film industry when many big films are released. I believe that any good film finds success during this season. I wish all the films releasing alongside ours the best of luck and hope they all receive the recognition they deserve.

Q: How was it working with music director Thaman?

Pragya Jaiswal: Thaman is one of the finest music directors in the industry, and his combination with Balakrishna Sir is magical. He has created some extraordinary songs and background music for Daaku Maharaaj. My personal favorite is “Rage of Daaku.” Thaman always brings something fresh and unique to every project, making it exciting and memorable.

Q: What have you learned, both professionally and personally, from Nandamuri Balakrishna?

Pragya Jaiswal: The biggest lesson I’ve learned from Balakrishna Sir is discipline. He wakes up at 3:30 AM every day, does his poojas, works out, and always arrives on set ahead of time. Despite his years of superstardom, he remains grounded and completely dedicated to his craft. His childlike energy and unwavering commitment to every director’s vision are truly inspiring. Working with him has been an invaluable learning experience, both professionally and personally.
