Karthi, who awaits the release of his heist comedy thriller 'Japan' for Diwali, is in the news for donating Rs 1 Cr to multiple individuals and causes. As per Chennai-based media sources, the versatile actor has made donations to social activists, underprivileged schools, and cash-strapped hospitals, besides sponsoring the food consumption needs of 25,000 people for a period of 25 days.
Here is the break-up of his donation:
1. Rs 1 lakh to 25 social activists, which amounts to Rs 25 lakh.
2. Rs 1 lakh to 25 schools, which amounts to Rs 25 lakh.
3. Rs 1 lakh to 25 hospitals, which brings the total to Rs 25 lakh.
4. Rs 1 lakh to sponsor the food consumption needs of as many as 25,000 people for 25 days.
As for 'Japan', it is Karthi's 25th movie. Starring Anu Emmanuel as the female lead, the flamboyant action comedy is one of the most-awaited Kollywood releases of the year. Recently, at an event of 'Japan' in Chennai, a distributor said that 19 of Karthi's 24 films so far are box-office hits, helping all stakeholders to either make break-even and/or profits.
