'Maama Mascheendra', starring Sudheer Babu in three roles, will grace Amazon Prime Video on October 20. It has been just three days since the comedy thriller got released in theatres.
"The film's theatrical run was dead on arrival. On the very first day, audiences thinned right after the morning show in Hyderabad. Show cancellations throughout the day made it clear that film wouldn't last even a weekend," a source says.
The Harshavardhan-directed movie has Sudheer Babu as Parasuram, an unsentimental baddie. He goes after his two nephews, played by himself, for falling in love with his daughter. Eesha Rebba and Mrinalini Ravi play the love interests of the duo. Produced by Sree Venkateswara Cinemas LLP and featuring music by Chaitan Bharadwaj, the film co-stars Hari Teja, Ali Reza and Shakalaka Shankar.
For Harshavardhan of 'Amutham' fame, the flop is a major setback. He waited for 22 years to direct a feature film. Sudheer Babu has scored four disasters in a row: 'Sridevi Soda Center', 'Aa Ammayi Gurinchi Meeku Cheppali', 'Hunt' and now 'Maama Mascheendra'.
