Shah Rukh Khan confirms release date of 'Dunki'

Shah Rukh Khan today confirmed that his film 'Dunki' will hit the screens ahead of this Christmas. Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, the comedy drama will come out on December 22, which is a Friday.

"My film 'Pathaan' was released for Republic Day. And 'Jawan' was released on Janmashtami. 'Dunki' will be out for Christmas. Jab meri movie release hoti hai us roz to Eid hoti hi hai," he said, quipping that he believes in National Integration.

'Dunki', written by Abhijat Joshi, is said to have been shot in multiple countries and locations. "It is about people who want to come back home when you get the calling," SRK recently said.

In a true Hirani style, the film will be laced with emotions.

SRK's fans believe that 'Dunki' will mint something like USD 25 million in the Overseas market on the opening weekend, given 'Jawan' made something like USD 17 million. The potential of 'Dunki' far exceeds that of 'Jawan' in the foreign market.

Domestically, too, 'Dunki' is one of the biggest releases of the year. It might get more screens in Hindi than 'Jawan'. In Telugu, though, it will face a shortage of screens, considering straight Telugu releases are also coming up.
