Legal notice against 'Baby' makers? Producer clarifies

On Thursday, Hyderabad's city police commissioner CV Anand said that the film 'Baby' (released in theatres in July) showed some shots of college youths rolling a joint. He opined that the Telugu film depicts the consumption of drugs by college youths in a problematic way. He added that an advisory has been issued to the film's creators in this regard.

A section of the media misinterpreted the commissioner's words and reported that it was a case of a legal notice against the team of the Tollywood blockbuster. The truth of the matter is that producer SKN and director Sai Rajesh have only been advised to refrain from such portrayals in the future keeping in view the unintended social consequences of showing youths consuming narcotics in cinema.

In this regard, the producer wrote that no legal case exists against him and director Sai Rajesh. "It is an advisory notice to filmmakers, not a legal case or action. It's just an appeal about drug usage in the movie which is already CERTIFIED by the Censor Board and carried statutory warning in scene and OTT too," wrote producer SKN.
