'Mark Antony': Silk Smitha is 'sexualized' in this fantasy-comedy

'Mark Antony' is slated to hit the screens on September 15. Its trailer shows that SJ Suryah's character ends up travelling to the early 1990s when he uses a miraculous telephone. He is confused about his fate but is excited to come across Silk Smitha, the late actress who was known for glorious item songs in Telugu and Tamil films.

Going by the trailer, the late sizzler has been objectified for cheap laughs. Netizens are calling out the makers of the Vishal-starrer for "unethically bringing back Smitha only to sexualize her without her consent".

Smitha was allegedly manipulated by some men when she was alive. "Exploiting her when she was alive was not enough. Exploiting her likeness in a morally bankrupt caricature for your own pleasure and profit is peak dystopia," wrote a Twitter user. "Bringing back a dead person via CGI for commodification is one of the worst things ever," commented another Netizen.

Silk Smitha's role has been played in 'Mark Antony' by Vishnu Priya, who is regarded as the late actress' lookalike.
