Tollywood is more inclined these days towards women centric movies with many filmmakers and actresses taking a risk to make such movies with good elements. However, this year has not been that encouraging, with no big hits till date.
1.Virata Parvam Virata Parvam is a period romantic action-drama film, written and directed by Venu Udugula, and produced by Suresh Productions and SLV Cinemas. The film stars Sai Pallavi and Rana Daggubati in lead roles while Priyamani, Naveen Chandra, Nandita Das, Zarina Wahab, Easwari Rao, and Sai Chand have played supporting roles. Set in the Telangana region in the 1990s amidst the Naxalite movement, the movie’s trailer attracted a lot of attention highlighting Sai Pallavi’s performance but post release it didn’t live up to its hype.2.Good Luck Sakhi
Good Luck Sakhi is a sports comedy film written and directed by Nagesh Kukunoor. The film stars Keerthy Suresh, Aadhi Pinisetty and Jagapathi Babu. In this film Sakhi (Keerthy) plays a role which supposedly brings bad luck to everyone. It marked Kukunoor's directorial debut in Telugu cinema. Devi Sri Prasad composed the music for this film which had heavy expectations. But the film failed, both commercially and critically.3. Mishan Impossible
Mishan Impossible is a comedy thriller film written and directed by Swaroop R. S. J. of Agent Sai Srinivasa Athreya fame. It stars Taapsee Pannu and child actors while the plot revolves around a fictional account of a true incident that took place in Patna in the year 2014. The movie only received mixed reviews from critics and audiences. 4. Jayamma Panchayathi Jayamma Panchayathi was written and directed by debutant Vijay Kumar Kalivarapu. The film stars Suma Kanakala and features music composed by M. M. Keeravani. Although it was a unique venture with Suma in the lead role, after a very long time it failed to garner audience attention despite winning critical acclaim. Suma was the only saving grace for this movie.5. Saakini Daakini
Saakini Daakini is an action-comedy film directed by Sudheer Varma and produced by Suresh Productions, Guru Films, and Kross Pictures. An official remake of the 2017 South Korean film Midnight Runners, it stars Regina Cassandra and Nivetha Thomas. The film was expected to be on the lines of Charlie’s Angels and although both actresses gave good performances in their roles, the audience gave a thumbs down which showed that the film could have been improvised much more.
