'BRO' is set to hit the screens on July 28. The film is an adaptation of the Tamil movie 'Vinodhaya Sitham'. If you have watched the Tamil original, you would know that it was a low-effort movie that was made for the OTT audience. Even Kollywood film critics didn't find it ambitious by any stretch of the imagination. A national daily used the term 'TV serial-ish' in its review of the otherwise decently-rated fantasy comedy.
This makes 'BRO', an adaptation of the Tamil movie, Trivikram's easiest work in years. 'Bheemla Nayak' was a hard one to be remade. Even Venu Sriram had a more challenging task at hand in remaking the legal drama 'Pink' as 'Vakeel Saab'.
Trivikram toiled hard in writing 'Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo', which could have tanked if the baby-swapping element was not told in a dramatic, entertaining fashion.
'Vinodhaya Sitham' is no classic. It's not even a movie with a unique aesthetic narrative like 'Ayyappanum Koshiyum'. Forget Trivikram, even a Kona Venkat can do a much better job in adapting it.
This July 28, we will know how delectable Trivikram's writing has altered 'Vinodhaya Sitham'. Family scenes involving Sai Dharam Tej are expected to be more developed. The family audience need a treat this season. 'BRO' has more chances to be a thousand times better version than its Tamil parent.
