Formulaic and outmoded elements are all over the place in 'Bholaa Shankar', if the teaser is anything to go by. Film critic Ram Venkat Srikar's observation encapsulates the tragedy pithily. "Same factory fights. Same villain voice. Same plastic buildings in the background. Same suit-wearing villains. I am sure there is some comfort in the familiarity but for how long will this go?" he asks.
Netizens, including many fans of Megastar Chiranjeevi, are in agreement. The 'Waltair Veerayya' actor has clearly experimented with his voice modulation. Trolls are blasting director Meher Ramesh for what they feel is an error of judgment on his part.
At 68, Chiru is charismatic. His swag is intact. However, it doesn't mean he will be excused if he continues to do formulaic movies. Like 'Khaidi No. 150', this one too is a remake.
This is not to say that we have to pre-judge the movie's fate. "If emotions connect with the audience, 'Bholaa Shankar' will be a hit. We also can't underestimate the screen presence and craze that Chiru enjoys," a social media user says.
