'Emergency' (Hindi) features Kangana Ranaut as Indira Gandhi, arguably India's most popular Prime Minister before Narendra Modi. The teaser shows the suspension of fundamental rights during the infamous Emergency of the mid-1970s.
Sharing the teaser, the 'Queen' and 'Thalaivi' actress wrote, "A protector or a Dictator? Witness the darkest phase of our history when the leader of our nation declared a war on its people (sic)."
It seems Anupam Kher is playing a character resembling LK Advani, who was put behind bars during the Emergency. Shreyas Talpade, Mahima Chaudhry, Milind Soman, Vishak Nair, and Satish Kaushik also feature in this Manikarnika Films product. Directed by the lead actress herself, the film is produced jointly by her and Renu Pitti. With the story written by Kangana, the film's screenplay and dialogues have been penned by Ritesh Shah.
For the looks of it, the film's screenplay and aesthetics are quite basic. There is nothing dramatic about the teaser. One has to wait for the film's trailer to be released to get a better understanding.
'Emergency' will hit the screens on November 24.
