Following the massive success of their recent collaborations like Little Hearts and Eesha, producers Bunny Vaas and Vamsi Nandipati are set to deliver another winner. Their upcoming out-and-out entertainer, Hey Balwanth, stars the versatile Suhas and the charming Shivani Nagaram in lead roles.
Directed by Gopi Atchara and produced by B. Narendra Reddy under the Trishul Visionary Studios banner, the film is gearing up for a grand theatrical release this Friday, February 20, 2026. Ahead of the release, hero Suhas shared insights into the film’s transformation and his excitement about returning to the comedy genre.
The Story Behind the Name Change
The film was originally titled Hey Bhagwan, but a last-minute suggestion from the Censor Board led to the switch to Hey Balwanth.
"Since 'Bhagwan' refers to God, the board felt it might be sensitive given the film's comedic tone. We respected their perspective and made the change, even adjusting Naresh garu's character name to align with it," Suhas explained.
Despite the late shift, the team remains confident, with Suhas joking in a promotional video about the irony of changing a title just days before hitting the screens.
A Refreshing "Comedy 2.0" for Suhas
After delivering intense, often tragic performances in films like Ambajipeta Marriage Band, Suhas was eager to shift gears.
-
The Plot: Suhas plays a young man desperate to inherit his father's business, only to discover it’s an "unconventional" venture that his family keeps a closely guarded secret.
-
The Tone: While the movie is a non-stop laugh riot, Suhas promises a "pre-climax" emotional payoff regarding the father-son bond that will leave a lasting impact.
-
Fast-Paced Production: Remarkably, the film was shot and completed in record time, which Suhas credits to the director's clear vision and the team's efficiency.
Expanding Horizons: Villainy in Kollywood
While he continues to charm Telugu audiences, Suhas is set to make his Tamil debut in a surprisingly dark role. He will appear as the primary antagonist in the sports action drama Mandadi, facing off against hero Soori.
"I’ve been waiting for a character and a look like the one in Mandadi. I'm a bit nervous about how the Tamil audience will receive me as a villain, but it's a challenge I'm excited about," he noted.
What’s Next?
Suhas’s career trajectory remains on a steep incline. Following Hey Balwanth, he has a project lined up under director Karthik Subbaraj’s banner (Stone Bench Films), further solidifying his presence across South Indian cinema.
