Lately, several women on social media are trolling cricketer Kuldeep Yadav. The other day, when asked about his marriage, Yadav happened to say this: "Soon you will get good news, but it won't be an actress. It's important that she takes care of me and my family."
His words have triggered many women, who are shaming him for "wanting" a caretaker and not a wife. "Barring Virat Kohli, it feels like most of the cricketers really resent successful women as partners, and basically use the worst kind of code for servile wife-nanny," wrote Sabah. "So he wants a full-time maid who won't think independently or make a career for herself. Better hire a maid and pay a salary than marry. Oh yeah, a wife won't be paid a salary. She is only given some luxuries which she could buy for herself if she is self-dependent," wrote Lalitha Arwade.
In the defence of Yadav, others wrote that there is nothing wrong on his part to wish for a non-actress as his wife. "There are several women who say they won't marry men from certain professions. Many also have expectations about income, lifestyle, family situation dependents, etc. Why should men not have their own expectations?" asked Shilpa Khopade.
