Look how much Swiggy, Zomato over-charge from customers!

Swiggy and Zomato are slowly losing the trust of their customer bases. While convenience is a huge win for the customers, a dispassionate cost-benefit analysis in a lot of instances shows that the food aggregator apps are not worth it.

"I have massively reduced ordering from Swiggy/Zomato. Today, I noticed the platform charge is now Rs. 6. I am happy that I weaned myself off the daily ordering. They also take 30% from restaurants, by the way," wrote an entrepreneur named Deepak Shenoy. In response, a Netizen said that the 30% is just for the orders. "These apps take much more because they also pit Ads (sponsored listings) and promotions, which cost the restaurants a lot," he analyzed.

"Most restaurants bump up their Swiggy and Zomato prices by 30%. One of the popular biryani places near me charges Rs. 390 for dine-in and a staggering Rs 699 + Rs 89 of packaging charge for online ordering," a Twitter user chipped in.

Yet, for many, the convenience of online ordering is what matters the most. "We get to beat the traffic pangs, the waiting times at restaurants come at a cost. Even so, the cost has gone up considerably lately. Many restaurants offer lower prices if you order directly, and for larger orders, the difference is substantial," a customer wrote.
