"Thalassemia Run is a Movement, Not Just an Event": Nara Bhuvaneshwari at NTR Trust’s Awareness Initiative
To combat Thalassemia and advocate for those battling the disorder, the NTR Trust successfully organized a massive awareness run at Jalavihar, Hyderabad. Featuring 3K, 5K, and 10K categories, the event saw overwhelming participation from the youth and general public. Mrs. Nara Bhuvaneshwari, Managing Trustee of NTR Trust, flagged off the run and led the charge for the cause.
A Call for Awareness and Prevention
Addressing the gathering, Mrs. Nara Bhuvaneshwari delivered an emotional appeal, highlighting the daily struggles of children living with the condition.
-
The Reality of Thalassemia: "Imagine a five-year-old who should be playing, but instead spends his childhood in hospitals undergoing blood transfusions every 20 days. This is the reality for Thalassemia patients," she stated.
-
Prevention through Awareness: She emphasized that Thalassemia is preventable. A simple blood test before marriage can safeguard future generations and save lives.
-
The Mission: "This run is not just a sporting event; it is a movement. Our goal is to promote voluntary blood donation and bring smiles to the faces of these children."
"Run with Your Heart"
Mrs. Bhuvaneshwari urged participants to view the run as an act of empathy. She remarked that the participants weren't just running with their feet, but with their hearts, showing solidarity for the families affected by the disorder and ensuring a Thalassemia-free future.
