Revanth Reddy government must release Rs 16,000 for old people: Harish Rao

BRS MLA Harish Rao on Monday said that the Congress government in Telangana hasn't disbursed monthly pensions for the beneficiaries of the Aasara pension scheme since December 2023. The welfare scheme of pensions benefits old people, widows, physically disabled and beedi workers, among others.

Speaking in a presser today, Harish Rao said that the Andhra Pradesh government recently approved the release of pensions retrospectively for three months for old people."The new CM there used his first signature to grant pensions to the tune of Rs 4,000 per month. The Revanth Reddy government must open his eyes," Harish Rao said.

"If it is possible in AP, it must be doable in Telangana. We demand that Rs 16,000 (Rs 12,000 of dues plus Rs 4,000 pertaining to June) be released for old people on an immediate basis. This includes the non-payment of Rs 2,000 per month since December," Harish Rao added. "Telangana is a rich State compared to AP. Why are old people here being neglected?" he asked.
