In response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent comments regarding the provision of free bus travel for women, Congress leader and Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has criticised the Prime Minister's stance. Prabhakar emphasised that the initiative aims to spur economic growth in states facing particular challenges and asserted that providing free bus travel does not intersect with metro services. He questioned the Prime Minister's motives, suggesting a potential political agenda behind his remarks.
Asserting the Congress government in Telangana's commitment to the welfare of women, Prabhakar pledged to expand the scheme by adding more routes and buses. He urged the Prime Minister to refrain from politicising the issue and emphasised that providing free bus travel does not result in financial losses.
