KCR gets Election Commission notice over derogatory remarks on Congress

The Election Commission of India (ECI) issued a notice to Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) President and former Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao over his “derogatory” remarks against the Congress Party.

Acting on the complaint filed by Senior Vice-President of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee G. Niranjan that derogatory remarks made by the former CM of the state during a press meet in Sircilla on April 5, 2024, ECI issued notice. Further, ECI gave a deadline of 11am on April 18, 2024 to submit his explanation.

Telangana will go for elections for 17 Lok Sabha seats during the fourth phase of General election 2024. Meanwhile, Congress came to power in Telangana four months ago by winning the majority in Telangana legislative assembly elections.
