Indian National Congress fielded Narayanan Sri Ganesh as Congress candidate for the ensuing bye-election to the Legislative Assembly elections in Telangana for the Secunderabad Cantonment Constituency. On April 6, 2024, the All India Congress Committee’s General secretary, K C Venugopal released an official press release announcing the same. It was further stated that the candidacy was released after the approval of the Congress National president, Mallikharjun Kharge.
The Secunderabad Cantonment Constituency is a SC reserved constituency. Earlier, the BRS leaders’ Saianna, daughter, G Lasya Nanditha was elected as legislator from the BRS party. However, in an unfortunate incident, Lasya Nanditha passed away in an accident on the ORR near Hyderabad. This has lead to the bye-elections in SCB.
