Former Assistant Labour Commissioner, Hyd Jailed In DA Case By CBI Court

Special court for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sentenced a former Assistant Labour Commissioner, Hyderabad for Two years jail in connection with the disproportionate assets(DA) case.

Going further into details, CBI had booked Thodi Ramesh in Disproportionate Assets case following allegations against him that while working as Assistant Labour Commissioner, Hyderabad during 2000 and 2006, amassed huge illegal assets worth Rs. 59 lakhs which were disproportionate to his known sources of income, according to the statement released by the CBI.

Subsequently, a case was registered against him, and a charge sheet was filed in 2009. The Court, after trial, found the accused guilty and sentenced him to Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) of two years with a fine of Rs. One lakh. Further, the Court also ordered the confiscation of an amount of Rs. 27 lakhs amassed by him, terming it as disproportionate assets of the accused.
