After ruling India for nearly seven decades, it appears that the downfall of Congress is happening in the most dramatic way. That aside, the story in the Telugu states is further engrossing. As a unified state, Congress had an iron grip and despite the rivalry with TDP, Congress stood its ground and made an intense impact. However, all that changed post bifurcation and not to forget, this bifurcation happened thanks to Congress.
Cut to the present, the situation of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee is in total chaos. The latest to that is a strong speculation making rounds that the president Revanth Reddy will quit his post as well as the party. Some say he might join BJP, some say he will just keep quiet and go silent. Fact remains that after Revanth became the president, there was an initial momentum but Congress could not really rise from its ashes. After TRS it is still BJP which holds the second position but Congress is nowhere in the surroundings.
Meanwhile, Revanth has a strong stamp of being a TDP person and especially the close aide of Chandrababu Naidu. Also, the ‘note for vote’ issue has created a significant impact on the minds of people and tarnished Revanth’s image badly. As if all this was not enough, nobody in Congress is supportive of his leadership. Everyone has their own groups and forget attacking the ruling government, they are busy attacking Revanth at the slightest opportunity.
Given all this, there is absolutely nothing Revanth can do and the speculations that he might bid goodbye are getting strong. Above all, there is no support media for Congress so even if Revanth is doing anything, how will the people of Telangana even know what the party or he has done since the time he took over. Hence, the prediction is that he might dump Congress citing obvious reasons.
However, those who are known to Revanth are still holding the fort. They state that he is a very stubborn and strong willed person so he is not going to budge unless an order comes from the high command. Whether Revanth can really overcome this internal storm and emerge successful is something that remains to be seen.
