Eight students commit suicide within 24 hours in TS!

Intermediate results were out on Tuesday, and within 24 hours, from Tuesday night to Wednesday evening, as many as eight students committed suicide in Telangana over not scoring good marks in the intermediate examination.

Eight suicide cases have been reported at various police stations in Telangana, of which five are from Hyderabad.

Of the five Hyderabad students, three are girls.

A 17-year-old girl identified as P. Jhanvi, a resident of Santosh Nagar, hanged herself in her home after failing the intermediate second year examinations.

Another female student, Gayatri, took her own life by hanging. She had taken the exam, along with her younger sister. Since her younger sister had passed the exam but she had not. Upset by this, she killed herself.

Another girl student, Shanta Kumari, studying in a government junior college in Hyderabad, jumped to her death from the fifth floor of a building after failing the exam.

After failing the exam, another person, Gautam Kumar, from the Khairatabad area, committed suicide. Another male student from Secunderabad hanged himself in his house after failing the examination.

On the other hand, an intermediate second-year student from the Mahabubabad area committed suicide ahead of the results on April 10, fearing he might score fewer marks, however, he ended up scoring 892 out of 1,000 marks.

Just last month, nine students from Andhra Pradesh committed suicide for the same reason.

A separate cell has been established by the Board of Intermediate Education to assist students in overcoming any stress, pressure, or worry. This 24-hour cell is known as Tele Mental Health Assistance and Networking across the State (Tele Manas).
