The Hyderabad Police Commissioner, CV Anand (IPS), has said that the illegal use of sirens will be curbed soon by the police. When a young journalist brought to the police's attention an instance where a siren was used by a vehicle user in order to have free passage on road, CV Anand came back with a firm resolve.
"The illegal use of sirens by all and sundry is creating a lot of traffic issues and disturbing maintenance of traffic flow. I have asked the Hyderabad traffic police to conduct a special drive against this menace and detain and seize all vehicles using unauthorized sirens," he added.
Even ambulances that are found to be illegally using sirens even when they are not having patients or carrying fake patients will also be dealt a lesson.
The public has been requested by the police to report the details of vehicles suspected to be using sirens for selfish reasons.
