Actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut was today in for a rude shock when a CISF constable named Kulwinder Kaur slapped her at the Chandigarh airport. The incident took place around 3:20 pm on Thursday.
It has been claimed by a section of the media that the constable has been terribly upset with Kangana's old comments on farmers’ protests. The incident has shocked many.
Columnist Sushant Sareen opined that the CISF official must be immediately sacked. "She should also be arrested for assaulting an MP. This nonsense will otherwise spread. This constable is trying to become a martyr, which she isn't. But Khalistani elements will make her into a hero. That's the game because the government refuses to crackdown on this element," he added. "Dismissing her is not enough. Taking her to court is important. Have to set a deterrent immediately. Else plenty of such people can be paid off to do much worse. Highly likely that this woman was paid too and it isn't some spur of the moment thing," wrote Kartik Sivaraman.
"Major security breach on part of CISF, which is otherwise an incredible organisation with spectacular achievements and Standard Operating Procedures in place. CISF Jawans should be properly debriefed at recruitment and training stage. Emotions, ideology, personal interests can’t come above duty towards nation," opined journalist Aditya Raj Kaul.
