A ‘Save Democracy’ maha rally held at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi on Sunday, Marc 31, 2024 by the opposition alliance, INDIA bloc. The INDIA bloc has requested the Election Commission of India to ensure there is a level playing field for all the political parties ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
In this context, the INDIA bloc had put out five major demands for the Election Commission of India, they are
1. Election Commission to ensure equal opportunities for all the contesting parties
2. Election Commission should stop misuse of government agencies like ED, CBI, and the Income Tax Department
3. Immediate release of Heman Soren and Arvind Kejriwal
4. Actions to financially weaken opposition parties before elections should be stopped
5. A SIT should be formed under the supervision of the Supreme Court and should investigate the money laundering of the BJP in the form of Electoral Bonds.
