44% of sitting MPs have criminal cases on them: ADR Report

As per the latest analysis report released by the Association for Democratic Reforms, around 44 percent of the outgoing parliamentarians have criminal cases against them. ADR released a press release on March 29, 2024 about the analysis of criminal background, financial, education, gender and other details of sitting MPs.

The report states that out of the 514 sitting MPs analysed, 225, which is 44 percent of the sitting MPS have declared criminal cases against them. And around 149 which is 29 percent sitting MPs have declared serious criminal cases against them, which include, murder, attempt to murder, communal disharmony, kidnapping, crimes against women etc.

India is going for the parliamentary elections, which would happen in seven phases, according to the official announcement by the Election Commission of India.
