MP: Anger against Congress ruined Rahul Gandhi's agenda

The Assembly election result in Madhya Pradesh is a stunner. The BJP is set to retain power with a landslide margin. At the time of writing, the saffron party is expected to score more than 140 seats the minimum, while the Congress party might not cross 75 seats.

The anger against Congress leader Kamal Nath, who was the Chief Minister for fifteen months from December 2018 to early 2020 before the BJP toppled the Congress government is the reason why the people went against the party. After the Bharat Jodo Yatra, Rahul Gandhi pitched for a caste census to break the BJP's OBC vote bank. He hoped that the Congress party will surely come back to power in MP.

However, today's results show that Rahul's agenda has become a huge flop in MP. And the one person the PM aspirant can blame is none other than Kamal Nath, his own ex-CM.

During the 15-month Congress rule, the Kamal Nath government mismanaged the welfare schemes to the hilt. Welfare benefits didn't reach beneficiaries on time or, worse still, they didn't reach at all.

On the other hand, after coming back to power by buying Congress MLAs, the BJP was quick to set the house in order. It launched at least one powerful welfare scheme - the Ladli Behna Yojana - and turned the tables. Women voters have been supporting the BJP for this reason.
