Did Pakistan lose the match due to unfair umpiring? Read on...

After Friday's cricket World Cup match between Pakistan and South Africa, former Indian bowler Harbhajan Singh came out in defence of Pak by alleging that a bad umpiring decision had cost Pak the match. "The ICC should change this rule: If the ball is hitting the stump, that’s out whether the on-ground umpire gave out or not out," he said, referring to an instance where the third umpire didn't overturn the decision of the on-field umpire.

After the row, Harsha Bhogle explained why the third umpire was right by talking about why technology can't be 100% fool-proof. "After the ball strikes the pad, what you see is a projection of where the ball might have been. It isn't the actual ball because that has met an obstruction. If more than 50% of the ball is projected to hit the stumps, you can be 100% sure it will. But if less than 50% of the ball is projected to hit the stumps, the current accuracy levels cannot state with 100% certainty that the ball would have hit the stumps," he wrote.

In other words, Pak can't play the victim here. South Africa won the match fair and square.

In the below video, we see Nasser Hussain explaining how the umpire's call works.
