Is a ban on Pakistani artists in India lifted? Find out...

The other day, a section of the media claimed that the Bombay High Court had lifted a ban on Pakistani artists. In 2016, following the Uri issue, the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association passed a resolution banning Bollywood producers from roping in Pakistani artists. In 2019, even the All India Cine Workers Association passed a similar resolution in the wake of the Pulwama carnage. The India-Pak relations have soured like anything in recent years. As such Pakistani artists such as Mahira Khan, Fawad Khan, Atif Aslam, Ali Zafar, Javed Sheikh, and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan have not been recruited by any Indian production house.

In the latest instance, the Bombay High Court has not lifted any ban. It merely refused to hear a petition that had asked the court to issue a judicial ruling banning Pakistani artists.

The court's refusal to admit the petition has been misconstrued as its ruling banning the artists from India's rogue neighbour. Those of you who have been wanting to watch Mahira and Fawad give Bollywood artists a run for their money can take note...

In recent days, we have seen how Pakistani cricketers have been disliked by Indian cricket fans. The sentiment on the ground is really unfavourable towards Pakistanis these days.
