Houses of journalists raided by police in Delhi - Find out more

On Tuesday, the biggest development came in the form of the Delhi police raiding the houses of some journalists and political commentators. The raids, national media reports say, are related to a case against a news portal by the name NewsClick. The raids have been taken out under provisions related to the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

Here are the names of individuals whose houses have been raided:

Sanjay Rajoura, a political satirist.
Paranjoy Guha Thakurta, a senior journalist and columnist.
Bhasha Singh, a journalist with NewsClick.
Prabir Purkayastha, a journalist with NewsClick.
Abhisar Sharma, a journalist with NewsClick.
Sohail Hashmi, an activist.
Githa Hariharan, a writer.
Urmilesh, a journalist.
Aunindyo Chakraborty, a journalist.

Senior journalist Pallavi Ghosh, reporting on the issue, quoted her sources as saying that NewsClick is believed to be funded by a network tied to US millionaire Neville Roy Singham for pushing Chinese propaganda.

The Narendra Modi government feels that many journalists working for different media houses in India have been parading the Chinese propaganda. At times, they have worked against Indian interests.
