Rahul Gandhi, participating in a session at the Sciences PO University, Paris, has said that billionaire Gautam Adani has a foothold in every single business in India. He alleged that Adani sends money out of India with the aim of manipulating the company's stock price and using that money to buy Indian assets. "There are very close links between the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Mr. Adani. The BJP's policies are designed to concentrate India's wealth in the hands of a few," he added.
It is stunning that Rahul Gandhi made the above allegations not in India but in a foreign country.
Critics are of the view that the Congress leader shouldn't be speaking against Indian businessmen and leadership on foreign land at a time when our politicians and bureaucrats are "rallying the European Union's support for partnership and growth". "Imagine a European Union leader from any state coming to India and talking in this way about his country and its industrialists to a group of nobodies or say some flunkies," wrote Hims on X.
"Is any purpose served in demonizing Adani and demeaning India’s PM on foreign soil? Why not fight political battles at home and not encourage foreign interference in our internal affairs?" asked Kanwal Sibal.
The Congress party has reduced the frequency of attacks on Mukesh Ambani of late for reasons best known to the party. On the other hand, the focus has mainly been on Adani.
