Netizens remind Kamal Haasan that he cried in public

Kamal Haasan, predictably, has supported Udhayanidhi Stalin's comments against Sanatana Dharma in the name of Freedom of Expression. In his social media post, the 'Vikram' actor urged for a discussion in the right spirit. "If you disagree with his (Stalin's) viewpoint, it is important to engage in a discussion based on the merits of Sanatana instead of resorting to threats of violence or legal intimidation tactics, or distorting his words to evoke emotional responses for narrow political gains," the 'Indian 2' actor wrote.

The actor-politician further said that Tamil Nadu has always been a safe space for healthy debates. "It will continue to remain so. It is crucial to critically evaluate our traditions, ensuring inclusivity, equality, and progress," the Makkal Needhi Maiam leader wrote.

Tamil Nadu, in fact, is known for intolerance towards politically incorrect views. Both DMK and AIADMK have resorted to threats against opponents. The current DMK government and party organization is known for ideological fanaticism.

When Kamal made 'Vishwaroopam' and Muslim groups opposed it tooth and nail in 2012, the then AIADMK government, led by Jayalalitha, banned its release in the State. Kamal, who produced the movie, was so upset that he literally broke into tears in front of TV cameras and threatened to fly out of the country like MF Hussain did. Netizens are reminding Kamal about that incident.
