The other day, the CSK won the IPL trophy in a nail-biting twist. The victory has elicited a variety of comical responses on social media. But none of them is funnier than Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai saying that the CSK defeated the Gujarat Titans because a BJP 'karyakarta' hit the ball out of the park. Ravindra Jadeja, as per Annamalai, is a BJP worker because his wife Rivaba Jadeja is a BJP MLA from Jamnagar North Assembly constituency in Gujarat.
The claim has been mocked by Netizens. "Annamalai was in an IPS officer. How can such an intelligent person with a proven track record talk in such a silly manner? Giving a political colour to a sportsperson is so wrong," wrote a Twitter user.
The BJP leader is getting support as well. Some Netizens pointed out that Annamalai had to make the deliberately political comment because the interviewer had equated CSK's win to a win of the Tamils over Gujarat. Annamalai had to project Jadeja as a Gujarati BJP worker to balance the narrative, they are saying.
