A state-sponsored memorial meet was organised by the Andhra Pradesh government in June in honour of Ramoji Rao, the late media baron. As per government records, as much as Rs 4.28 Cr was allotted for the meet.
The YSRCP on Thursday criticized the Kootami government on the issue. "How come so much was spent by the government for just one memorial event? Where was the need for it? Did Ramoji Rao do social service? He was a white collar criminal who looted money from people in the name of chit fund schemes. Ramoji Finance was shady. Many cases were lodged against them. Recently, Pawan Kalyan said that there was no money for bleaching powder," Ambati Rambabu today said, questioning the priorities of the government.
The memorial event was attended by both Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan. The love showered on the departed soul by the Kootami government has to be seen in the context of Eenadu and ETV being pro-TDP for decades.
