Hidden cam incident at Gudlavalleru College: New details emerge

The shocking incident at Gudlavalleru Engineering College in Krishnan district, where a hidden camera was discovered in the women's hostel washroom, has shocked everyone. Details are emerging slowly after protests erupted on the campus in the wake of the alarming incident coming to light.

Not one but multiple cameras were installed in different locations. One Vijay Kumar, himself a BTech student, has been named as a suspect. He allegedly got a girl to place the cameras inside the washrooms. The girl allegedly did so because she was blackmailed.

As many as 300 videos were recorded over months. The modus operandi of the culprits is yet to be established by the police.

It is evident that many students who bought the videos abetted the perverts with their endorsement and transactional arrangement.

From a legal standpoint, installing hidden cameras in private areas like a girls' hostel is a violation of privacy laws and can lead to criminal charges. The situation must be handled as a case of illegal surveillance, voyeurism, and possibly other related offenses, depending on the jurisdiction. "The police have taken a final-year engineering student into custody in connection with the incident. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities ensuring strict action against those involved," The South First reported.
