Former Andhra Pradesh Water Resources Minister Ambati Rambabu today criticized Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu over the Polavaram project. Recently, the TDP chief blamed the YSRCP government (2019-24) for "delaying" the irrigation project.
Rambabu today said that Naidu wanted to amass wealth by blocking the construction activities of Polavaram. "In his previous term, Naidu kept repeating that Polavaram would be completed by 2018. It is true that our government, too, promised to complete the project by 2022. But, after a careful study, we realized that it is a very complicated project. The TDP has been repeating the lie that Jagan Mohan Reddy is responsible for the mess. It's just untrue," Rambabu said.
Rambabu used the opportunity to clinically take the TDP to the cleaners. He suggested that Naidu has been using the media to misguide the public as well as experts.
"In the rush to complete the project by 2018, previously, some blunders were made regarding the construction of the diaphragm wall. Those were historic blunders. It's only because of those blunders that Polavaram remains an unfinished agenda item. A high magnitude of loss has already happened because of a series of mistakes committed by the previous TDP government," Rambabu said.
