Andhra Pradesh's electoral roll is commencing in under 24 hours from now. In this context, Nagababu, the elder brother of JSP chief Pawan Kalyan tried to spread misinformation by saying the YCP cadres are trying to obstruct their opponent voters from voting by dropping ink on their index fingers to make it look like they have voted already.
However, the EC was having none of this and immediately condemned the comment made by Nagababu. An official clarification was issued through a social media post a short while ago.
This morning false information in the form of video message from a leader of the Jana Sena Party has been spread in WhatsApp claiming that functionaries from another political party were giving out money and marking voters with indelible ink to prevent them from voting at the polling station on 13th May.
The Joint Collector and Returning Officer of Pithapuram AC has clarified in his video message that the allegations are not factually correct and reiterated that only the officials appointed by Election Commission of India has the authority to use indelible ink, and anyone caught trying to use a different ink will face serious consequences. So, it is requested you not believe everything you read on WhatsApp - always fact check before sharing such misleading information!, the EC commented.
