Any party that handles all its internal problems can have a smooth sailing and this is true with every political entity in India. In fact, regional parties with strong leaders fare much better than national parties in many states because the leaders have a stronghold on how different units function and there will be grassroots co-ordination to deal with troublemakers.
The same holds good for TRS, TDP and other regional parties whichever are or whether in power. Now it’s time for YSRCP to take notice of certain facts and not ignore them as mere propaganda. In a state like AP, where powerful media is always there to do TDP’s bidding, one should not relax at any stage and this should be there utmost in mind.
Particularly certain turn of events in Nellore district doesn’t augur well for the party. It is quite common for regional parties also to face some dissent after staying in power for a few years and the same is happening in YSRCP. It’s high time that Jagan chalks out some new strategies. The instances of Anam, Nallapureddy, Kotamreddy cannot be taken lightly because once Jagan relaxes this may come out in different forms in different districts.
Anyway, the pro-TDP media will be ready to highlight these issues as if that’s the end of YSRCP. There is only one and half year for elections to the assembly in Andhra Pradesh and TDP will spare no effort to highlight such dissent as massive anti-incumbency against Jagan Mohan Reddy’s rule. Hence, any infighting should be properly entrusted to district in-charges who should leave no stone unturned to bring different groups on the same platform. The positive impacts of Jagan’s policies need to be highlighted and this should be taken to the doorstep of people. There should be adequate coordination between different leaders and Jagan should take regular feedback from his leaders.
Jagan should be able to gather information about potential dissent and nip it in the bud with proper political and administrative strategies. Only then there will be a balance and smooth functioning. Jagan should give more priority from now to the party, and balance it with focus on government programmes. Neglecting party activities will backfire later and Jagan should learn from the experience of Chandrababu who faces the ire of TDP cadre every time when in power for neglecting them.
