Telugu Desam Party is facing existential crisis now with its long-time commander in chief Chandrababu Naidu serving 14 days remand for his alleged involvement in the Skill Development case.
The party is now in a position where they had to secure an alliance with Pawan Kalyan's JanaSena which itself has 1 solitary MLA seat in Andhra Pradesh.
Amidst this crisis, the announcement on TDP-JSP alliance was made by Pawan Kalyan yesterday and this is leaving even hardcore TDP leaders surprised.
Of the two parties, TDP is the bigger one and it is optimal that Lokesh, who is now the main man at TDP makes the announcement on the alliance. But it wasn't to be. Pawan Kalyan was the one who announced the alliance yesterday. He is the one who got media coverage for the announcement yesterday.
This is beyond illogical from Lokesh. His father is the man who has been jailed and he is the one who is supposed to lead his party in this crisis. But he took the side seat and let Pawan get all the media coverage.
When the YS family faced such a situation, Jagan faced all the heat and stood like a real man. He fought all the battles on his own and that is what made him what he is today.
But in the case of Lokesh, he let the biggest opportunity of his slip up and let someone else (Pawan Kalyan in this case) to walk away with the limelight. This is what differentiates a politician from a leader.
