First Defeat: Chandrababu to contest in two constituencies

Telugu Desam Party chief Chandrababu Naidu appears to have conceded his first defeat in the build-up for the coming general election in Andhra Pradesh. He is all but confirmed to contest from not one but two constituencies in the coming elections.

As per the latest update from national media outlets, Chandrababu will contest from two assembly constituencies in the coming general election in the state.

While one is obviously Kuppam constituency, where he had been contesting from several years, the other constituency could be somewhere in Krishna and Godavari districts. He wants to pick a constituency where TDP is strong and the populous of the Kamma community is strong.

Chandrababu is seeing two constituencies as the safer plan for him, given that YCP has gained a lot of ground in the Kuppam constituency, and contesting solely from here is very risky. There is indeed a very good chance he might lose comprehensively from here.

Naidu has apparently taken a cue from KCR who is also contesting from two constituencies. Well, this move from Chandrababu will certainly send signals that he himself is not sure about his own victory and this will raise doubts about his capability in running and leading his whole Telugu Desam Party.
