Ambati Rambabu trashes rumors on Polavaram

Minister Ambati Rambabu trashes opposition rumors on the Polavaram project. Speaking to scribes, Ambati Rambabu said AP CM Jagan Mohan Reddy is committed to the completion of Polavaram. He highlighted that despite the covid pandemic, the Polavaram project did not come to a standstill and pointed out that Lower Coffer Dam, Upper Coffer Dam, Spill Way, and Approach Channel have been completed and the credit should go to CM Jagan for his commitment.

He blamed the previous government headed by Chandra Babu Naidu's TDP for the washing away of the diaphragm wall structure and added that it was not due to the floods but due to the inefficiency of the TDP government. He said the Central Water Commission (CWC) is considering whether to repair or build a new diaphragm wall.

He rubbished the allegations of a 900crs scam by TDP leader Payyavula Keshav. CM Jagan also on may occasions vowed to complete the project started by his father YSR. He said, "(My) father Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy started the Polavaram project and his son (Jagan) will complete it without fail."

He added "The Telugu Desam government treated Polavaram as an ATM, shunning the construction of the project. Their government saved Rs 800 crore through the ‘reverse tendering’ process on Polavaram."
