MP YS Avinash Reddy gets anticipatory bail

The murder of former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy has long been a mystery.

The investigation also led to the arrest of YSRCP MP Y S Avinash Reddy from Kadapa, who is the relative of AP Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. The Telangana State High Court on Wednesday awarded Avinash Reddy anticipatory bail in the most recent development.

The court ordered Avinash Reddy to stay inside the nation until the inquiry was over and told him not to tamper with the prosecution's witnesses or change any evidence.

Upon execution of a personal bond for just Rs. 5 lakhs with two sureties for a similar value each, to the satisfaction of the CBI, the ruling stated that the petitioner would be freed on bail in the case of his arrest by the CBI.

In his ruling, Justice M. Laxman stated that the petitioner "shall cooperate with the investigation and shall appear before the CBI Police every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., until the end of June 2023," as well as "shall regularly appear as and when he is required for investigation."

On the evening of March 15, 2019, only a few weeks before the State's Assembly elections, Vivekananda Reddy, one of the brothers of the late Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, was discovered dead at his home in Pulivendula in the Kadapa district.

A special investigative team (SIT) of the state criminal investigation department originally looked into the matter before turning it over to the CBI in July 2020.
On October 26, 2021, the CBI submitted a charge sheet in the murder case. On January 31, 2022, it followed that up with a supplemental charge sheet.
