The Karnataka political drama is out in the open. The Congress High Command is favouring Siddaramaiah for the CM's post. As per political analysts, the party will be digging its own grave if it goes with the idea. Siddaramaiah is a mass leader. However, bucking DK Shivakumar in favour of Siddaramaiah will antagonize Vokkaliga voters of the Congress party. They will desert the party in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and will vote for BJP or JDS. A section of the Lingayat population is also not in favor of Siddaramaiah. They will vote for BJP next time if he is made the CM.
But if Siddaramaiah is not made the CM, several backward communities will get hurt. How to resolve the political dilemma?
By making Rahul Gandhi the CM of Karnataka. Says political commentator Minhaz Merchant, "No Nehru-Gandhi has ever been the CM of a State. Nehru, Indira, and Rajiv became the PM directly. Given that he is no longer a parliamentarian, Rahul could be CM of Karnataka, win a by-poll in 6 months, and get some experience running government administration. Siddu and DKS can be joint deputy CMs."
The idea might sound crazy but it can benefit Rahul in the long run. He anyways has no chance of leading a State like Uttar Pradesh, where even Brahmins have deserted Congress.
